Being gluten free is a dietary lifestyle choice that involves removing foods containing the protein gluten, which is found in cereals such as wheat, rye and barley. Gluten-free foods include fruits, vegetables, nuts, beans, seeds, and most dairy products. It is possible to find gluten-free versions of many foods, such as bread, pasta, and snacks. By avoiding the consumption of gluten, people suffering from gluten sensitivities and Celiac disease can reduce the amount of inflammation within their digestive systems and experience improved health outcomes. Studies have even suggested that avoiding gluten can offer numerous health benefits for those without gluten-related sensitivities, as well, such as increased levels of energy, enhanced digestive health, and improved mental clarity.
