Why Hope Is Important

The Triple Threat: Faith, Hope, & Love

Have you ever noticed…some people have so little in the way of owning things or even money. And yet, they are extremely happy. Could it be that their life is filled with faith, hope, and love – and that’s all that’s needed? Somehow, they are able to embrace “the little things” as enough. It seems they can get over the lumps and bumps even when life isn’t going their way.

Faith, hope, and love are topics found in just about all religious beliefs. Many passages are in the Bible. Take for example the verses from 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8:

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

It makes sense then that these 3 elements – love, faith and hope – are so carefully linked with each other. The love we have for ourselves and for others, it builds community and belonging. It typically leads us to have hope that we all will achieve success together; that they will pull through all of the life things that come their way.

Everybody have various levels of faith that we handle. Some are really spiritual and emotional. A lot of us do not put in daily work for our faith or check out how we actually feel about it. We rely on it when life gets rough. And, we tend to ignore it when things are working out for us. That’s just our human nature.

Still, it doesn’t matter where you are in your life. You can find things you believe which you are passionate about. Everything in life will all be more satisfying when you acknowledge what you have faith in, know who you love outside of yourself…and then you will have hope. Having hope is a way to actually focus on the good sides of life and to make the very best out of only what is in front of you.
